There was a scaffold that was erected in the bell tower so 20 to 30 years before we got there. We were tasked with removing the scaffold, which had to be passed out through the small opening as the tube would not go down the stairwell.
Once this had been removed, we supported the 2.5 tonne bell allowing the frame work holding the bell in place to be replaced with ne steels.
